An Eye for Trouble

So, Monday afternoon/evening I found a bunch of yellow & green goop in Joanna's left eye. I am a little familiar with this - Abby had a "goopy" eye a lot during her first year. It usually happens because an infant's tear ducts aren't matured so they don't drain properly. Consequently the eye gets all gunked up.

But, Joanna hadn't ever had a problem with her eye, so I was mildly concerned. I made sure to clean it out every time I saw that eye snot was forming Monday evening. One of the times I was cleaning it out a HUGE hair came out with the eye booger - eewww! (it was a Benny hair).

I felt victorious because I had finely gotten the perpetrator that was aggravating her eye. YEAH!!
All was well, so I thought nothing more about it...  Until Tuesday morning...

I found Joanna's eye was red, swollen, and completely matted shut Tuesday morning. YIKES!

Come to find out, Joanna had a bacterial infection in her left eye that also infected her ear. She was put on a 10 day regimen of antibiotics.

Thank you, Lord, for modern medicine & for insurance.
